’Tis the season for graduation!

At The Child Center of NY, we are committed to supporting students in reaching key educational milestones, including high school graduation. A diploma opens doors to expanded opportunities, empowering young people to pursue their goals, build on their strengths, and shape their own futures.

NYC Community Schools play an important role in this work. As the lead community-based organization at 21 Community Schools, The Child Center partners with schools to provide academic enrichment, social-emotional support, and access to resources—helping students stay engaged, succeed in school, and thrive.

Below are two scholars we had the pleasure of getting to know this past school year. They recently celebrated their eighth-grade promotion. Here’s what they told us about their time at Ebbets Field Middle School. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish in high school!

“My name is Mariama, and I am from Guinea, Africa. During my three years at Ebbets Field Middle School, I faced many challenges. However, with the support of The Child Center of NY at Ebbets Field Middle School, I was able to overcome them all. One message I would like to leave behind is to always be yourself, surround yourself with the right people, and never stop striving to be better than you were the day before.”

“My name is Bathin. I am from Nigeria. My experience has been nothing short of amazing. The Child Center of NY at Ebbets Field Middle School gave me opportunities to explore career paths that I would love to pursue in the future. One message I would like to leave behind is to always remain optimistic about the future.”
