Early Head Start
The Child Center of NY offers Early Head Start programming for children prenatal to age three, funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Head Start. It serves low-income children with a limited number of slots for over-income. Priority is given to children with a diagnosed disability.
The program provides continuous, comprehensive child development and family support services for infants, toddlers, pregnant people, and families with limited financial resources. Parenting education and the support of a positive parent-child relationship are integral to the program, as is a focus on supporting the whole child: their physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development. We collaborate with Northwell Health to enhance our health services. Our partnership with Strong Children Wellness provides primary care for our clients. We’ve embedded early childhood mental health services within all of our Early Childhood programs.
Our services in Astoria, Corona, and Woodside are home-based, and we offer a center-based classroom for 2-year-olds at our Escalera Early Head Start in Manhattan. All programs are designed to meet each family’s individual needs. All of our Early Head Start programs are free to eligible children.
Please see our latest Head Start annual report for more information about our Early Head Start programs. All of our Early Head Start programs are free to eligible children.
