Dr. Barbara Greenstein is a social worker and psychoanalyst who joined the staff of The Child Center in 2000. She received a master’s degree from Columbia University, and then a doctorate in clinical social work with children and adolescents from New York University. Dr. Greenstein has spent most of her career developing programs for high-risk children and families, including development of the first Early Head Start in New York City for which she was a member of the National Early Head Start Research Consortium. Dr. Greenstein is past president of the New York Zero-To-Three Network, and is currently on the faculty of the Infant Parent Study Center of the Jewish Board. “I feel great pride in The Child Center because of our unique commitment to the belief that responsive, secure relationships are at the core of emotional well-being and optimal development. This credo is at the foundation of all of our varied programs, and regardless of the intervention, every child is understood in the context of his or her family, culture and community. We strongly support each child’s sense of humanity, a perspective so vital in today’s world.” |
